Amsterdam has appointed six neighborhood caretakers who are responsible for a clean public space. Locals can call them on their cell if they spot a problem. It is a bit of a laughing matter on Twitter because Amsterdam already has 14020, a service desk and reporting issues to them hardly ever results in a quick response.
I Amsterdam, the marketing organization of the city proudly announced Amsterdam is one of the greenest capital cities in Europe. But the locals pained by garbage dumps, parks being shut down for weeks in a row for festivals, noise pollution and witnessing old trees being chopped down in bulk to make room for more parking lots, buildings and roads beg to differ.
